All Natural Spa Treatment

Once a week for 20 minutes, sit in a hot bath that contains a handful of Epsom or sea salts, 10 drops of lavender essential oil, and a half cut of baking soda. This combo draws out toxins, lowers stress-related hormones, and balances your pH levels.

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) has a fresh, sweet, floral, herbaceous aroma that is soothing and refreshing. Because it is the most versatile of all essential oils, no home should be without it. Lavender is an adaptogen, and therefore can assist the body when adapting to stress or imbalances. It is a great aid for relaxing and winding down before bedtime, yet has balancing properties that can also boost stamina and energy. Therapeutic-grade lavender is highly regarded for skin and beauty. It may be used to soothe and cleanse common cuts, bruises, and skin irritations. The French scientist René Gattefossé was among the first to discover these properties when he was severely burned in a laboratory explosion. Lavender may also be used to enhance the flavor of foods.

Lavender Oil

Lavender is a very versatile essential oil. It can be used topically as well as aromatically.
Applying it topically, it can be used to clean cuts, and heal bruised and irritated skin. Applications would be for bug bites, rashes and sores. It works well to sooth burns as well as sunburns and chapped skin. Lavender stops bleeding.

Aromatically, Lavender can be used to calm, relax and balance your mood physically as well as emotionally.  You can rub Lavender on your feet for a calming effect. You can put it on your pillowcase to promote sleep. Placing Lavender in your linen closet will repel bugs and moths. Placing Lavender on a wet washcloth and adding it to your laundry drying cycle will aid in deodorizing and killing bacteria. Lavender can also help alleviate symptoms of allergies.

Personally, I add a drop or two to a gallon of distilled water and then use that water in a c-pap machine to aid sleep. I found I have been able to fall asleep easier as well as wake up better rested.
